TERMS AND CONDITIONS
A. Participation in the Zurich Connect Discount Scheme
1. You will be automatically enrolled as a participant in the Zurich Connect Discount Scheme (“Discount Scheme”) on purchasing one or more policies of insurance underwritten by Zurich Insurance plc and branded Zurich Connect.
2. Your participation in the Discount Scheme is conditional on you holding at least one valid Zurich Connect Policy. For the purposes of these terms and conditions a Zurich Connect Policy means a:
(a) Zurich Connect motor insurance policy;
(b) Zurich Connect combined buildings & contents home insurance policy;
(c) Zurich Connect buildings home insurance policy; or
(d) Zurich Connect contents insurance policy.
which is purchased in your name and held within the same My Connect customer account.
3. The terms and conditions of your Zurich Connect Policies and the terms and conditions of the Discount Scheme are legally independent contracts.
4. The Discount Scheme is only applicable to Zurich Connect Policies which appear in the same My Connect customer account and under which you are named as a policyholder. For the avoidance of doubt this means that any other policy of insurance that you hold (either purchased within or outside the Zurich Financial Services Group of companies) will not accrue any benefits under the Discount Scheme nor will you be entitled to apply any benefits accrued under the Discount Scheme to such policies of insurance.
B. Accumulation of Loyalty and Multiple Product Discounts
1. Loyalty Discount:
1.1 Subject to clause B1.2 and provided that you hold at least one valid Zurich Connect Policy, you will accrue a 2% loyalty discount for each claims-free year that you remain with Zurich Connect subject to a maximum accrued discount of 10% (“the Loyalty Discount”). That is, 2% at the end of year 1, 4% at the end of year 2, 6% at the end of year 3, 8% at the end of year 4 and a maximum of 10% at the end of year 5.
1.2 If during a calendar year you make one or two Eligible Claims under any Zurich Connect Policy your Loyalty Discount shall remain fixed at the level that you accrue at the end of the policy year in which you have made such a claim. The Loyalty Discount shall remain fixed for a period of one year thereafter. If during a calendar year you make three or more Eligible Claims under any Zurich Connect Policy your accrued Loyalty Discount shall be reduced to 2%. For the purposes of this clause an Eligible Claim shall mean a claim notified to Zurich Connect under a Zurich Connect Policy other than:
(a) a claim solely for replacement of glass in the windows or sunroof; or
(b) a claim where Zurich Connect has made a full recovery of its outlay.
2. Multiple Product Discount
2.1 If you purchase two or more Zurich Connect Policies you shall accrue, at a daily rate by reference to the time that you have held each additional policy, the following multiple product discount in relation to each additional Zurich Connect Policy that you hold (“the Multiple Product Discount”):
(a) 5% for two Zurich Connect Policies;
(b) 7% for three Zurich Connect Policies;
(c) 9% for four Zurich Connect Policies;
(d) a maximum of 10% for 5 or more Zurich Connect Policies.
2.2. You shall not accrue a Multiple Product Discount in relation to separate covers that are purchased within one Zurich Connect Policy.
C. Claiming your Loyalty and Multiple Product Discounts
1. You shall be entitled to claim any accrued discounts under the Discount Scheme provided that you have held a valid Zurich Connect Policy for at least one calendar year from the date of purchase of your first Zurich Connect Policy.
2. You may only apply the discounts that you have accrued under the Discount Scheme to reduce a premium in relation to:
(a) the renewal of an existing Zurich Connect Policy (which appears in the My Connect customer account in which the discounts accrued); or
(b) the purchase of a Zurich Connect Policy (from the My Connect customer account in which the discounts accrued).
4. If you wish to apply your accrued discounts under the Discount Scheme you must advise Zurich Connect (via phone or in writing) prior to or at the time of renewal or purchase of the Zurich Connect Policy.
5. Any accrued discounts cannot be exchanged for cash or cash equivalent.
6. Any accrued discounts that you have may only be used once and will expire immediately upon use.
D. Calculation of your benefits under the Discount Scheme
1. Your Loyalty and Multiple Product Discounts will be calculated on a daily basis by reference to the sum of the annual premium of each valid Zurich Connect Policy that you hold on that day. If you cancel a Zurich Connect Policy or undertake a mid term adjustment that either increases or decreases the premium payable under your Zurich Connect Policy, your Loyalty and Multiple Product Discount will be calculated (from the date of the cancellation/mid term adjustment) by reference to the revised sum of the annual premium of each valid Zurich Connect Policy that you hold.
2. The balance of the discounts that you have accrued may be viewed in My Connect under "My Savings".
3. Your Loyalty and Multiple Product Discount balance will be updated on the third day of each calendar month.
4. If you consider that the balance of any accrued discounts in My Savings to be incorrect you must raise an objection to Zurich Connect within four weeks of the date on which your balance was last updated pursuant to clause D.3 above. Failure to raise an objection within this time period will be considered approval by you to the balance displayed in My Savings.
E. Expiry of benefits under the Discount Scheme
Any Loyalty and Multiple Product Discounts that you have accrued and which remain unused for a period of 13 months from the cancellation date of your last Zurich Connect Policy shall expire automatically.
F. Assignment of Loyalty and Multiple Product Discounts:
Any accrued benefits under the Discount Scheme may only be used in relation to the purchase or renewal of a Zurich Connect Policy which appears in My Connect and under which you are a named policyholder. You are not entitled to transfer or assign any accrued discounts under the Discount Scheme to any other person whether they are a customer of Zurich Connect or not. In the case of joint policyholders the benefits can only be used by the relevant My Connect account owner.
G. Variation of Terms
Zurich Connect shall be entitled to vary these terms and conditions at any time upon reasonable notice to you via email or via My Connect. Any discounts that you have accrued at the date of variation of the Discount Scheme shall remain unaffected (subject to clause E).
H. Termination of the Discount Scheme
1. The Discount Scheme may be terminated or discontinued by Zurich Connect at any time by notice to you via email or via My Connect. Any discounts that you have accrued at the date of termination of the Discount Scheme shall be available for use for a period of 13 months following termination of the Discount Scheme.
2. You may withdraw from participation in the Discount Scheme at any time upon giving written notice to Zurich Connect. Upon withdrawal any unused discounts that you have accrued under the Discount Scheme will immediately expire.
I. Data protection
By participating in the Discount Scheme you hereby consent to Zurich Connect and members of the Zurich Financial Services Group processing your personal data for the purposes of administering the Discount Scheme.
J. Severability
If any provision of these terms and conditions is held by any court or other competent authority to be void or unenforceable in whole or part, these terms and conditions shall continue to be valid as to the other provisions thereof and the remainder of the affected provision.
K. Third Party Rights
The parties exclude the operation and effect of the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 from these terms and conditions. The Parties hereby expressly exclude any rights which may otherwise arise in favour of any third party under these terms and conditions.
L. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
